Get a workout and try something fun and unique! Who said movement had to be boring? Bellydance 101 is perfect for those who are new to bellydance or want to review the basics for stronger technique. This class introduces universal bellydance technique that can apply to any style of bellydance.
If you already have some experience in bellydance, Bellydance 102 will challenge and help you grow. In this class, we will focus on group improvisation that will greatly enhance your musicality, posture, and technique. Please bring finger cymbals to class. No prior experience in group improvisation needed.

The studio entrance is accessible by way of North McDonough Street, at the intersection of Trinity Avenue and the Decatur Square. Look for the entrance between Waffle House and DeWoskin Law Firm. Classes are held in the upstairs studio.
Majda Anwar is a passionate Arab American dancer and musician dedicated to celebrating and preserving her cultural heritage through the arts. With nearly three decades of Middle Eastern dance experience, she has mastered a diverse range of belly dance styles making her a versatile dancer and instructor. She began dancing at five, learning from her aunts at family gatherings, and devotedly watched great Egyptian dance stars like Nagua Fouad and Sohair Zaki.
Majda's journey in dance is deeply personal and transformative. As a plus-size dancer and survivor of eating disorders, she understands the unique challenges and joys that come with dancing in a larger body. Her classes promote body positivity and self-acceptance, creating an inclusive and supportive environment where everyone can celebrate their unique beauty and enjoy the transformative power of belly dance. Majda holds certifications from renowned institutions, including the Salimpour School of Dance and FatChanceBellyDance®.
Majda has taught bellydance since she was 16, offering classes in various styles and techniques. She is a well-recognized teacher in the Atlanta metro area, known for her compassionate and empowering teaching style that fosters a deep appreciation for cultural expression and community.

Belly dance is not just a dance form; it's a celebration of culture and self-expression. It enhances physical fitness, improves flexibility, and is a great way to relieve stress. Majda's classes offer a unique opportunity for people to enjoy a fun and engaging activity in a safe environment.
Wear comfortable clothing that allows for freedom of movement. Leggings, yoga pants, and a fitted top are ideal. You are NOT required to have a bare midriff. Bare feet or dance shoes are recommended. I will have hip scarves available to borrow during class.
Bring a water bottle to stay hydrated and a small towel if needed. The space is air conditioned. Please bring finger cymbals for Bellydance 102 class.

All are welcome to join class. Minors must be accompanied by an adult. I started bellydancing at age six, it's a family friendly art form!
No experience is necessary. Bellydance 101 is a beginner-friendly class where everyone can learn at their own pace.
