Atlanta World Fusion Belly Dance Company
Awalim Dance Company
Atlanta-based Awalim Dance Company has brought world fusion belly dance to Renaissance festivals since 1999. From swords and fire to swirling skirts and veils, we deliver exciting, family-friendly entertainment for all ages!
A Little History. A Little Magic. A Whole Lot of Movement.
Rooted in Renaissance Festival Tradition
Awalim has been part of Georgia's Renaissance festival community for decades, becoming one of the first belly dance companies to perform at the Georgia Renaissance Festival.
Our world fusion tribal style has deep roots in the American Renaissance festival circuit, combining group improvisation, theatrical presentation, and influences from dance traditions around the world.
Experienced Performers. Local Roots.
Founded in 1999, Awalim has spent more than 25 years performing, studying, and developing world fusion dance in the Atlanta area.
In 2025, founding director Ziah McKinney passed leadership to longtime company member Majda Anwar, an Arab American dancer, musician, and cultural educator.
Our company continues to build on that legacy, combining decades of performance experience with a commitment to cultural integrity, artistic collaboration, and inclusive entertainment.
